“Gruss Vom Krampus!”
The Pagan Krampus lore is believed to stem from Alpine regions of Europe where it was said that he is the darker counterpart to St. Nicholas. Where St. Nicholas (Santa Clause) rewards the good children with gifts, Krampus punished the bad children with a lashing of his birch reeds. He is typically depicted as a half-goat, half-horned creature, draped in chains, carrying bells and a basket on his back to take naughty children back to the underworld. Krampusnacht, or Krampus Night, is celebrated on Dec 5th.
Our Krampus candle smells like the mythical creature has just risen from fire and brimstone, begins his trek through the winter woods on his way to the sleepy village to claim his unsuspecting victims. It’s a sinister blend of smokey wood, fresh fir trees and firey cinnamon.
